For several years, Capitol City Nannies has been providing exceptional pre-screened nannies for families in the Topeka and Lawrence area. Whether you need a nanny for a date night, when school is out, for afterschool care or for a few days a week,

I will work to meet your family's child care needs. Capitol City Nannies also provides churches, corporations and other organizations with group child care.

Capitol City Nannies saves your family the time and energy of interviewing and searching for excellent child care providers by conducting background and reference checks

on all nannies. I personally meet and interview all candidates who are at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and previous child care experience. In addition, all nannies are trained in Infant and Child CPR and First Aid.

Capitol City Nannies provides customized child care arrangement for its families and clients. We have provided high-quality nannies for the following families and clients:

Stephanie and John who needed an after school nanny to care for their two boys.

Rachel who works three days a week and needed a nanny to care for her infant daughter.

For Families

If you need a nanny for a date night or on a more permanent basis, Capitol City Nannies will find the perfect nanny for your children.

I personally meet with all families to gain a clear understanding of your family's child care needs.

Contact me to visit about the type of child care you need assistance with, for example - temporary nannies or a permanent nanny. I will send you the paperwork to begin using our child care services.

I meet with families to learn who would be a nice fit for your children and family. We meet for about an hour and I look forward to learning more about you and your

children. This helps me know who will be a good fit for your family. At this meeting,

I'll collect the agreement allowing Capitol City Nannies to find a nanny for your family

along with the one-time $75 registration fee and the placement fee (if applicable).

If you are looking for a permanent nanny, I will refer nannies to your family to meet

with and select who you would like to hire. I ask our nannies to provide a one-year

commitment to your family, depending on your family's child care needs.

If you are looking for a temporary nanny, provide me with at least two days notice

prior to when you will need the nanny and I'll find the right nanny for your children.

Placement Fees for Permanent Nannies

$200 Part-Time Nanny (29 hours or less a week)

$200 Summer Nanny (for full- or part-time care)

For a part-time nanny, we recommend a salary ranging between $10 - $12/hour depending on the nanny's experience, the number of children to care for and the position's requirements.

The family is the nanny's employer and is responsible for withholding taxes.

Fees for Temporary Nannies

Agency Fees

$10 per temporary nanny job

$15 with less than 24-hours notice

$15 for Holidays

$15 for Overnight care

Any family using the temporary nanny services more than five times in one month,

receives the sixth agency fee FREE of CHARGE.

Nanny Fees

$9/hour for one-two children

$10/hour for three children

$11/hour for four children

Add $1/hour for infants (younger than one year). For example, three children including one infant is $11/hour.

Add $1/hour for each child when more than four children require care (up to a maximum of six children).

Add $1/hour for each child with a special need.

Contact us for overnight care fees.

We require a three-hour minimum for each temporary nanny job.

Holidays such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and Valentine's

Day are time and a half.

Families pay the nanny directly at the end of the job.

Cancellation Policy

Please contact Capitol City Nannies as soon as possible if you need to cancel a temporary nanny job with a nanny. Canceling with less than 24-hours notices results in a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations must be made to Capitol City Nannies at least 24-hours prior to service; or by 4pm on Friday for a Saturday, Sunday or Monday temporary job to avoid payment of the cancellation fee.

Nannies

We provide well-trained, fully qualified professional candidates to our families. If you answer yes to the following questions, I invite you to join our network of superior caregivers.

1. Do you possess a warm, nurturing attitude toward children?

2. Are you a high school graduate? Do you have additional schooling?

3. Can you make a one-year commitment to a family, if you are interested in being a

permanent nanny?

4. Do you have extensive childcare experience, either as a nanny, au-pair, babysitter,

teacher, nurse, etc.?

5. Do you have verifiable childcare, business and educational references?

6. Do you possess a valid driver's license with a clean record?

7. Are you a non-smoker?

8. Are you a U.S. citizen or otherwise able to legally accept employment in the United

States?

9. Are you willing to authorize a criminal, motor vehicle and social security check and

verification?

10. Are you devoted to your role as a nurturing, loving and patient caregiver to other

people's children?

All Nanny Candidates Must:

1. Be at least 18 years of age

2. Have a high school diploma preferably with a year or two of college with some

course work in childhood education or experience in working or caring for children

3. Be prescreened via an intensive telephone interview

4. Participate in an extensive personal interview and complete our application form

5. Provide at least six references (three professional and three personal)

6. Have each individual reference checked and verified by Capitol City Nannies

7. Have all previous non-childcare employment and education verified by Capitol City

Nannies

8. Be trained in Infant and Child CPR, at the nanny's expense

9. Have a car and possess a clear and valid driver's license record

10. Make a one-year commitment to remain with a family (for permanent nanny

placements)

11. Pass a background check by a licensed private investigative firm (at the nanny's

expense), as a result of which the potential candidate must:

a. have no prior criminal record; and

b. possess a valid social security number

Every year our company has a huge picnic for the employees. We have a lot of fun and it gives the employees from all of our offices the opportunity to relax and mingle. The employees who had children though, especially young ones, had to keep an eye on them and were not able to enjoy the festivities. Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can a nanny begin working with us?

If you're looking for a permanent full- or part-time nanny, it generally takes four to six weeks to recruit, screen and refer nanny candidates for your family. If you are needing a temporary nanny please give me a couple days notice before you need the nanny.

Do I contact Capitol City Nannies when I need a temporary nanny?

Yes. Please always contact Capitol City Nannies first when you need a temporary nanny. This helps us know which nannies are available for other families when they need care. Also, please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel a job with a temporary nanny.

What is the cancellation fee?

If a family needs to cancel a job with a temporary nanny with less than 24-hours notice before the nanny is to care for their children, the family will pay a $25 cancellation fee. This is really a courtesy to the nanny who reserved her time to work for the family.

Do you work with families who live outside of Topeka?

We do. We work with families who live in and around Topeka as well as in the Lawrence area.

Will we have a chance to meet our nanny before she begins working with us?

If your family is looking for a permanent nanny either on a full- or part-time basis, I refer several nannies for you to meet with and then select who you would like to hire.

About Us

As a mother of two little ones (now 6 and 3), I saw the need for high-quality in-home child care providers. Many experts agree, if a mother or father can't be with their child, the next best option is a caregiver who cares for the child at home. Having a nanny care for your child in your home has many advantages - the child is in a familiar surrounding, with his or her own bed, high chair and toys. The child is not exposed to other children's germs and does not have to be transported back and forth. Your child also has the nanny's full attention and a strong relationship will likely develop between the nanny and your child.

As a former nanny and now as a mother, without family in the immediate area, I've witnessed the benefits of a nanny agency from both perspectives. In college and later after I graduated from KU, I worked as a nanny in Kansas City. I know first hand how important it is to have someone you can truly trust to care for your children. We use the nannies for our children. I've often been asked - are your children the guinea pigs? It's not designed that way but if I wouldn't use the nanny for my own children, I won't refer them to you.
